What is VPN?

Virtual Private Network VPN uses the public Internet to establish secure, low-cost network connection between remote offices, business partners and remote users. Continuous office connections are done by connecting firewalls with permanent VPN tunnel while remote users use a VPN client installed in their computers to establish a more temporary VPN tunnel to office resources.

Office Connectivity

Connecting Offices with StoneGate Multi-Link VPN

ILLUS_office-connectivityWith globally spread business and strained IT budgets, organizations are increasingly challenged to find cost-effective, yet reliable solutions to provide Internet connectivity. Traditionally, remote office connections such as leased lines and MPLS have been either capacity-limited or expensive and rigid.

Virtual private networks (VPNs), however, provide a cost-effective and flexible alternative. StoneGate VPN is the ideal solution for connecting offices spread around the globe requiring always-on connectivity.  With the possibility to utilize multiple parallel internet connections simultaneously, the StoneGate solution secures both the availability and integrity of office-to-office connections. It offers a safely encrypted, highly available, capacity flexible and cost-effective connectivity solution.

When building a network, a site can be connected with several low-cost DSL connections from different Internet Service Providers (ISP). In practice this means that cost of connection comes down, as instead of one high-cost/high capacity link, the same amount of traffic can be delivered with several low-cost/low-capacity links. This also means redundant connectivity, since if one ISP link fails, traffic is automatically redirected to another operator's remaining links. The possibility of utilizing smart load-sharing functionality and VPN firewall's clustering capabilities ensures maintenance without downtime.

Benefits

  • Provides easy way to build secure and fault-tolerant offiice-to-office connections
  • Save money since expensive leased lines or MPLS networks are not anymore needed
